Berks County Hip Implant Lawsuits

hip implant

Have you had hip surgery after July 2003?

If the answer is yes, and you live in Berks County, your hip implant may have been voluntarily recalled.

Not all hip implants have been recalled, only the ASR™ XL Acetabular System made by DePuy Orthopaedics, a division of Johnson & Johnson's.

How do you know which hip implant you have? Most people who received hip implants do not have this knowledge on the tip of their tongue.

After receiving unpublished 2010 data from the National Joint Registry of England and Wales, DePuy made the decision regarding the recall. The data shows the five year revision rate for the ASR™ XL Acetabular System which is available worldwide is approximately 13 percent.

Revision means that another surgery is required to fix the current implant problem. Because the new data shows a higher than expected revision rate at five years, DePuy is issuing a voluntary recall of all ASR products.

Now what? U.S. orthopedic surgeons and hospitals have been requested to notify patients who received the DePuy recalled hip implants.
